What Is So Special About Merbau Timber?

Timber is widely used in construction industries but one of the timbers is always in higher side demand of demand and it is Merbau Timber. It is one of the most valuable timbers of all because of its immense qualities. Also known as Kwela wood, this timber has a very orangish, reddish appearance, with the sap having a whitish, pale shade. When freshly cut, Merbau timber has orangish-brown colour and this shade tends to get darker with time and treatment, and so does the thickness of Merbau timber, making it a more convenient choice over others.  Its grainy texture and reddish appearance make this timber timeless and classy. At the same time, it is extremely durable which creates its high demand in the construction industry.

Why Should We Choose Merbau Timber Over Others?

There are several characteristics of Merbau wood which separates it from the others and makes it a better choice. Some are given below, for your understanding. Read on.

• It Is A Very Durable Form of Wood: Merbau timber, as we read earlier, is a very strong and durable timber. It can not only withstand the test of time but can also bear extreme forms of temperature like rainfall, snowfall, storms and so on. It can also stay firm in salt water, meaning that it can be used to build boats and other such wooden structures which need to be operated in water. It can be used to build flood resistant pieces of furniture, and floorings.

• Termites? What Are They: A major concern of most of the people who wish to construct furniture or other goods with Merbau timber is regarding the decays caused by termites. These insects are responsible for most of the decays of the furniture in your house, or outside too. However, with Merbau timber, you can be assured that your furniture can be left alone, with not much concern on your side. There are also no chances of fungal formation on the wooden pieces. For this reason, they last a lot longer than the usual kinds of woods, and thus, importing them is an investment of a kind!

• Easy to Shape: So, you must be aware that Merbau is a strong, hard kind of wood. Does this, however, mean that you will find it difficult to give it a shape? No. In spite of its durability, it is very smooth, and it also has an oily texture. Thus, you can easily get it into your desired shape with a good quality saw itself.

• More Lustrous Than Every Other Kind of Timber: Due to the oily nature of Merbau timber, it gives your flooring, or any other piece of furniture for that matter, a very different, oily surface. And, because of this, you can also be sure of getting a very glowing, smooth surface. Teamed with the smooth texture and pale, reddish brown colour, the furniture made from this form of timber not only have a glossy look but also seem very elegant and timeless.

• Easy on Maintenance: If you haven’t yet been surprised by these features, then here’s another one for you - Merbau wood made floors and other furniture can be maintained with little pain. You can just sweep or mop or dust once in a while to keep its luster intact.

Those who know Merbau say that it is much more than just a wood material. It can bring immense benefits to your home improvement project whether it is indoors or outdoors it will stand firmly and look stunning always.   So, with these advantages, do not give a second thought, and go for the Merbau timber that will serve you for ages!
